Congress donations collapse
Congress party donations above twenty thousand rupees fell nearly seventy five percent to one hundred thirty point sixty nine crore rupees in twenty twenty five to twenty twenty six.
Steepest decline in a decade
This is the sharpest annual fall in such contributions in a decade. The last steeper fall was in twenty fifteen to twenty sixteen, when Congress donations dropped roughly eighty six percent.
Previous year was much stronger
Congress had received five hundred seventeen point thirty nine crore rupees in donations above twenty thousand rupees in twenty twenty four to twenty twenty five, the year Lok Sabha elections were held.
Electoral trust funding collapsed
Prudent Electoral Trust, which accounted for a substantial part of Congress funding, cut contributions from two hundred sixteen point thirty four crore rupees to twenty five crore rupees, a drop of about eighty eight percent.
BJP collected far more
BJP received six thousand seventy four point zero two crore rupees in donations exceeding twenty thousand rupees in twenty twenty four to twenty twenty five, nearly twelve times Congress's collection.
Congress lowest since twenty twenty one
Congress's twenty twenty five to twenty twenty six collection, though sharply lower than the previous year, was its lowest since twenty twenty one when including electoral bond receipts from earlier years.
Full financial picture still unclear
Congress's audited account for twenty twenty five to twenty twenty six has not been uploaded yet. The contribution report excludes smaller donations, membership fees, coupon collections and interest income.
