Odisha announces housing expansion
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced construction of additional two point nine one lakh houses under Antyodaya Gruha Yojana on October fifteen, twenty twenty-six.
Scheme extended by two years
The housing scheme tenure increases from twenty twenty-seven to twenty twenty-nine, extending the programme by two years to reach more vulnerable families.
Funds redirected to new homes
The total project outlay of seven thousand five hundred fifty crore rupees remains unchanged. Three thousand five hundred crore rupees shifts from repair component to new house construction.
“The total project outlay of ₹7,550 crore for the scheme will remain unchanged. However, it has been decided to allocate ₹3,500 crore from the repair component of the project towards the construction of new houses.”
Eligibility expanded for beneficiaries
Beneficiaries who received forty eight thousand five hundred rupees or less, plus other eligible families, will be covered. A survey will identify new beneficiaries.
Incentives increased for faster completion
Houses completed within five months now earn thirty five thousand rupees instead of twenty thousand. Seven month completion now brings twenty thousand rupees instead of ten thousand.
Scheme targets poorest families
The scheme originally aimed to build five lakh houses for poor and vulnerable people ineligible for Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Subsidised houses will now reach maximum beneficiaries.
“the scheme had originally envisaged the construction of houses for five lakh families. It is primarily intended for poor and vulnerable people who were not found eligible for housing assistance under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.”
