Reacher hits No. 1 again, just a little smaller

Season four of Reacher retook the streaming charts, while FX shows keep getting locked out on a technicality.

In brief

Season four of Reacher retook the streaming charts, while FX shows keep getting locked out on a technicality. Reacher is still the biggest swing on Prime Video, but Nielsen's category rules decide who even shows up on the chart. Originally reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

Reacher punches back on top

Reacher punches back on top

Season four of the Prime Video series starring Alan Ritchson led the week of Aug. 10-16 with 1.5 billion viewing minutes across all seasons.

“The fourth season of Reacher muscled its way back to the top of the streaming charts.”

The new episodes did the work

Nielsen says 79 percent of that time, roughly 1.19 billion minutes, went to the three season four episodes that dropped Aug. 12. That alone would have won the week.

Big, but not its biggest

Prior Reacher premieres pulled between 1.69 and 1.84 billion minutes. This opening lands as the show's fifth best week ever in the Nielsen rankings.

Just under a billion

Ted Lasso hit 996 million minutes and Lioness 955 million, a personal best for Lioness. My Life With the Walter Boys and Sterling Point also grew after their premieres.

Old shows keep winning

The Big Bang Theory topped the acquired chart with 1.09 billion minutes, its fifth straight billion-minute week. The Simpsons cracked the top 10 for the first time since 2024.

FX keeps missing the list

The Shards dropped two episodes Aug. 12 and charted nowhere. Because it also airs on FX, Nielsen may count it as acquired, where the bar for a top 10 spot is higher.

“The only recent FX-produced shows to make the streaming charts are The Bear, Alien: Earth and Shōgun”

What it means

Reacher is still the biggest swing on Prime Video, but Nielsen's category rules decide who even shows up on the chart.
