Replit switches to OpenAI

Replit moved most of its AI spending from Anthropic to OpenAI after OpenAI offered a discount of more than thirty percent. The contract is worth over one hundred million dollars a year.
Why Replit left Anthropic
Replit had planned to stay with Anthropic, which had discounted its models before. But Anthropic would not extend that discount without a bigger spending commitment.
Other customers follow
Rippling's OpenAI usage rose from sixteen percent to fifty two percent of coding work between May and now. DataCamp's chief executive said OpenAI's pricing cut costs by eighty to ninety percent.
Masad defends the decision
Replit chief executive Amjad Masad said the move was based on cost, partnership, and performance. He told TechCrunch that users can still pick Claude or other supported models.
“It was a decision based on both cost, partnership, and performance.”
