Zurich startup emerges with record funding

Enact Intelligence has come out of stealth with thirty million dollars in pre-seed funding from redalpine, Notion Capital and firstminute capital. It is the largest pre-seed round ever raised in Switzerland.
The problem with camera-only robots
Most robots today rely mainly on cameras to understand the world, making it hard for them to handle objects, work reliably and learn from experience.
Enact's approach: force inside motors
Enact measures force inside a robot's motors instead of with separate sensors, comparing it to how people feel tension in their muscles, not only at their fingertips.
Founder and next steps
Founder Manuel Yves Galliker, who previously led software for 1X's NEO humanoid, founded Enact in March.
The headline
Zurich's Enact Intelligence raised thirty million dollars in pre-seed funding to build robots that sense force and touch through their motors, the largest pre-seed round ever raised in Switzerland.
