Anthropic launches free security scanner

Anthropic announced OSS Scanner, a new service offering free security vulnerability scans for open-source projects that opt in to the programme.
Speed over accuracy in the trade-off
OSS Scanner uses Anthropic's strongest models, including Claude Mythos, to generate reports without human review. The outputs will be fully model-generated, which enables faster and more frequent scanning but means reports may be incorrect or invalid.
“The outputs of this opt-in vulnerability scanner will be fully model-generated, without human review or triage.”
Open-source projects already overwhelmed
AI tools have found major security flaws in open-source software recently, like the Copy Fail bug affecting nearly every Linux distro in May.
