Pentagon plans to livestream execution

The Pentagon is planning to livestream the execution of convicted Fort Hood shooter Nidal Hasan by firing squad, raising questions about broadcast television coverage.
Carr says FCC has no role if online only
FCC chairman Brendan Carr said the agency has no role if the execution appears only on an online platform beyond the FCC's jurisdiction, not on broadcast TV.
“My understanding is it's not on broadcast TV, so I don't think there's a role for the FCC one way or the other.”
Carr defers to Hegseth on broadcast decision
When asked if the execution would be allowed on broadcast TV if the Defense Department wanted it, Carr said it would be Hegseth's choice to make.
“Ultimately we're going to defer to Secretary Hegseth and his decisions on how to move forward with this.”
Tech platforms have not yet responded

The Verge asked YouTube, Twitch, Meta, and X whether they will allow the execution livestream on their platforms. As of publication, none had responded to requests for comment.
