Logitech's X3 Superstrike mouse costs $20 more for small gains

In brief
The new gaming mouse adds better battery life and a faster sensor, but the upgrades are incremental for most players. Logitech's X3 Superstrike improves on its predecessor with better specs, but the gains are modest enough that the cheaper X2 remains a solid choice for casual gamers. Logitech launches X3 Superstrike mouse

The new gaming mouse arrives October 6th for $199.99 in pink or black, with the older X2 staying available at $179.99.
Haptic clicks replace mechanical switches
The X3 uses haptic actuators under its main buttons instead of mechanical switches, reducing latency and letting you customize the click feel from subtle to jolty or off entirely.
Faster sensor and better battery life
The X3 supports 8,000Hz polling rate both wired and wirelessly (the X2 only managed 1,000Hz wired) and lasts up to 135 hours per charge versus the X2's 90 hours.
Specs improve but gains are small

The X3 weighs two grams less, has a Hero 2 sensor with 48K DPI (versus 44K), 90G acceleration (versus 88G), and 930 IPS max speed (versus 888 IPS).
Quick sequel feels unnecessary
Logitech released the X2 in February and the X3 just months later with only modest improvements, though keeping the X2 available at a lower price gives more players access to the haptics tech.
In short
Logitech's X3 Superstrike improves on its predecessor with better specs, but the gains are modest enough that the cheaper X2 remains a solid choice for casual gamers.
