Mechanism launches its first Switch 2 case

The $49 Basecase is a snap-on shell that protects your console and taps into Mechanism's modular lineup of mounts for walls, pillows and monitor arms.
The case fits snugly and stays accessible
The shell allows full range of the Switch 2's kickstand and access to all ports, buttons and fan vents. It clamps near the console's bottom USB-C port for a secure fit.
Rear plate swaps for custom options
You can unlock and replace the rear plate with custom three D printed versions. Mechanism sent examples with Lego pegs for minifigures and crannies for game cartridges.
Modular grips add comfort and storage

The four included grips slide onto Joy-Con protectors in two sizes. Each grip has a storage slot for a Switch game cartridge, making handheld play more comfortable.
Dock use requires an adapter cable
You cannot use the Switch 2 in its dock with the Basecase on. Mechanism includes a female to male USB-C cable adapter, though those with third party docks from Jsaux or Genki won't need it.
Design learns from competitors' mistakes
The Basecase addresses quality control issues from Dbrand, Genki and others. Its Joy-Con grips have a rubber lip that prevents controllers slipping when grabbed without supporting the console's weight.
Grips attach easily and feel durable

The swappable Joy-Con grips snap on with almost no effort to line up the latch pins. The case feels tougher than thin plastic competitors, with no ill fitting sections or flex.
Files available for three D printing
Gamers can grab all three D printer files at Makerworld or Printables to create custom grips and rear plates for their own Basecase.
