Meta launches AI game creation tools

Meta announced Horizon Create, a mobile app, and Horizon Studio, a browser app. Both let users build games using AI prompts.

Games get distribution on social platforms

Games made with these tools will be recommended on Facebook and Instagram, where they are playable without downloading an app.

Horizon has struggled as a platform. Meta hopes AI-powered creation tools and social distribution will give games significantly more reach.

Games include full game features

AI-generated games will include progression systems, balanced difficulty, art direction, multiplayer, and more that creators can refine.

Roblox already moving into AI games

Roblox, a vastly more popular platform with one hundred twenty-three million daily active users, is also pushing AI-powered game development.

Horizon faces steep competition ahead

Horizon has never taken off, hitting only three hundred thousand monthly users in early twenty twenty-two. Meta has far to go to match Roblox's scale.
