Hearing aid glasses get a refresh

EssilorLuxottica, which makes Ray-Ban smart glasses with Meta, released the Nuance Audio Plus. These FDA-cleared glasses work as discreet over-the-counter hearing aids with temple arms that look like regular eyeglasses.
Better sound in noisy places
The Plus model improves speech clarity in loud environments with two modes. Frontal picks up the person you're facing, while All-Around boosts everything around you. You can adjust noise reduction across three levels.
Controls built into the frames
The new glasses add a power slider and separate volume controls on the frames, so you don't need to pull out your phone as often. Folding the temples puts them in sleep mode to save battery.
Ten hours of battery life

The Nuance Audio Plus runs for up to ten hours on a charge, a significant improvement over the original model. The glasses can also answer incoming calls directly on iPhones without reaching for your phone.
Three styles and five colors
The Plus version comes in Square, Pathos, and Upturn frames in shiny black, shiny burgundy, deep blue, amber, and olive green. Pricing starts at $829, with the original Nuance Audio still available at $699.
The main idea
Hearing aid technology is becoming less visible and more functional, with on-device controls reducing the need to pull out your phone.
