Perplexity enters the AI agents race

Perplexity is launching Teammates, always-on AI agents designed for workplace tasks. The startup competes directly with OpenAI's Dots and Anthropic's Claude Duet.
What Teammates can do

Each Teammate takes on different jobs simultaneously within a workspace. They pull from existing Perplexity projects, skills and memory, and build on Perplexity Computer.
The price tag
Teammates require a subscription to Perplexity's $200 per month Max plan, making it more expensive than competing AI agent offerings from other companies.
Tracking and collaboration
Users monitor Teammates' progress through individual threads in the Perplexity app and can interact with them in Slack. CEO Aravind Srinivas envisions organisations having hundreds of teammates.
“Over time, we envision every org having hundreds of teammates working for each person.”
