Gold tests July's structural line again

After a 16% rally, gold has returned to the accumulation zone it left behind in July.

In brief

After a 16% rally, gold has returned to the accumulation zone it left behind in July. Gold's return to its July reference line at 4,256 reopens the structural question the market asked two months ago. Originally reported by TradingView.

Gold marked three times in July

The accumulation layer printed three marks just above 4,000 in July, signaling where a structural low was being built. Price then spent most of the month sitting under the reference line.

The window closed in early August

When price accepted above the reference line in early August, the accumulation window shut. Gold then rallied roughly 16 percent over three weeks to reach the high four-six-hundreds.

Gold spent a month coming back down

Gold spent a month coming back down

From the August high, gold declined for a month and this week reached 4,256.89, the exact reference line where the layer left it. Price has held above so far, trading at 4,324.

The reference line is not support

The layer draws the reference to define where the zone was, not to defend it. A return to the line is a test of whether the structural question from July is back on the table.

“The reference is not support.”

What happens next remains open

If price accepts below the line again, a new accumulation window opens. If it does not, the layer stays quiet. The chart shows one clean zone followed by a strong move, but zones often lead to nothing.

“Zones are followed by nothing at all often enough that any single chart proves the mechanism and nothing more.”

The short version

Gold's return to its July reference line at 4,256 reopens the structural question the market asked two months ago.
