Nikkei compressed after weakness
The Nikkei 225 is approaching a decision point as price action tightens following recent declines. The setup slightly favors bears, but traders are waiting for confirmation.
Bearish break targets below 63,000
A clean break below uptrend support from Monday's lows would target 62,715 first. Further downside could reach 62,058 or even 60,433 from earlier lows.
Bullish break opens path higher

Breaking above downtrend resistance from early September would put 64,000 as the first hurdle. Further gains could target 64,915, 65,355, and 65,750.
Momentum indicators lean bearish
RSI sits below 50 while MACD remains negative and converges on the signal line. Both technical indicators marginally favor the bears at this stage.
Weaker yen could support index
The reversal in USD/JPY partially offsets bearish signals. A weaker yen historically supports the Nikkei due to its heavy weighting of exporters.
“A weaker yen has historically tended to be supportive for the Nikkei given the index's large weighting of exporters and offshore earners”
