New Security Matrix for Events
Moorhead Police Division Commander Laddie Bata explained a new security matrix helps standardize officer numbers for large events.
“That kind of helps us narrow down the number of officers that we should have on scene, all the way up to the point of potentially requesting a SWAT team”
Matrix Factors Include Crowd Size
The matrix weighs event type, expected crowd size, indoor/outdoor status, and known threats or online chatter.
Friday's Game Security Levels
Moorhead Police will not increase officers for Friday's homecoming football game due to no connection to the Eden Prairie shooting.
“For this specific game, we’re not going to be increasing the number of officers there because there’s really no nexus to this event”
Extra Patrols for Weekend Events
Moorhead Police have extra patrols planned for homecoming events at Minnesota State University Moorhead and Concordia College.
