Moorhead's loaded roster wants one thing
Five D-I commits, a decade-old QB-receiver bond, and a state title loss the Spuds have not let go of.
In brief
Five D-I commits, a decade-old QB-receiver bond, and a state title loss the Spuds have not let go of. Talent got Moorhead here, but the seniors think humility and a week-by-week focus are what finish the job. Originally reported by Valleynewslive.
Anger left over from last year

Moorhead fell short at the 2025 state tournament, and the loss followed the team into summer lifting. Quarterback Jett Feeney says it powered the whole offseason.
“We're angry because we didn't win the championship, so we have a lot of energy because of that.”
Five D-I commits deep
The Spuds open 2026 with five Division-I commits and another player holding FBS offers, one of the most talented rosters the program has fielded.
Brothers since fifth grade
Feeney and receiver David Mack have played together for a decade and spend their off hours at each other's houses. Defensive coordinators have not found a way to break the timing.
“That's like my brother, that's my best friend.”
Double teams open doors
With defenses bracketing Mack, receivers Zak and Drew are getting single coverage. Added size on the outside gives Feeney a vertical throw the offense has lacked.
“It's good to have a mix of smaller, quicker guys and a bigger guy that can just go up and catch the ball.”
Egos stay out of the huddle
Running back Taye Reich says the recruiting attention means nothing if the team stops playing for each other. He calls an inflated ego the fastest way to lose a season.
“When egos inflate, something can happen and there goes our season.”
Be where your feet are
Head coach Kevin Feeney preaches going 1-and-0 each week and riding out the dips. The seniors are blunter: the goal is U.S. Bank Stadium in late November.
“The line of success is not a straight line.”
The bottom line
Talent got Moorhead here, but the seniors think humility and a week-by-week focus are what finish the job.
