Teen attacked in school hallway
Irvin E. Rodriguez Gaitan suffered life-threatening brain injuries after being assaulted by another student at Meadowbrook High School in Chesterfield, Virginia.
Incident started with a bump
Irvin was walking with his girlfriend when he and another student bumped into each other in the hallway. The other student then allegedly attacked him with no weapons involved.
Now recovering at home
After hospitalization, Irvin is out of the hospital and recovering at home. His brother Kevin said seeing him come home means more to the family than words can express.

Suspect charged and detained
The suspect, a minor, is charged with aggravated malicious wounding and being held in a juvenile detention center. Police have not released the suspect's identity.
School increases security measures
