In brief
Christina Latoski credits Officer Dillon Platte with saving her life after he arrested her for meth possession in 2024. A routine traffic stop and arrest became the turning point that led a woman to recovery from a 25-year methamphetamine addiction. Originally reported by Valleynewslive.
Four stops, one life changed
Officer Dillon Platte had pulled Christina Latoski over four times in her red 1996 Chevy Camaro, usually for taillight or headlight issues.
The arrest that changed everything
On August 4, 2024, Platte found Latoski had a warrant and discovered methamphetamine in her car. She told him she was done and ready to go to jail.
“I'm done. I can't do it no more. Please just put me in the car and just take me to jail. I'm done.”
Six months to recovery
Latoski spent three months in jail, then three months in rehab for what she described as a 25-year addiction to methamphetamine and alcohol.
A letter of gratitude
Latoski wrote to Platte saying the arrest saved her life. She told him if not for that stop, her children would be motherless because she would be dead.
“If it weren't for you making that traffic stop I have no doubt in my mind my children would be motherless because I would be dead.”
Reunion one year later

Latoski and Platte met again at the site of the traffic stop a year after her arrest. She thanked him for unknowingly saving her life.
“You unknowingly did something for me that night that I didn't even know I needed.”
