The Bond script is done, says Steven Knight
Everyone is arguing about the next 007. The script nobody was talking about is already written.
In brief
Everyone is arguing about the next 007. The script nobody was talking about is already written. The next Bond film has a finished first draft, so the casting hunt is no longer the only thing moving. Originally reported by Variety.
Bond news has one obsession
Nearly all the noise around the next 007 is about who replaces Daniel Craig, with many expecting an announcement any day now.
The script got forgotten
While the casting frenzy ran, the thing that actually determines whether the film works, the screenplay, went largely unmentioned.
“the matter of the all-important script has largely been ignored”
Steven Knight says it is done
The writer behind Peaky Blinders confirmed the first draft of the new Bond script is complete.
A very Bond confirmation
Asked on U.K. radio by Zoe Ball whether he had finished the draft, Knight gave an answer that said everything without saying much.
“I'm nodding silently.”
What a first draft means
A completed draft gives the production something concrete to build around, and gives any incoming actor a part to read rather than a rumour.
Casting is the next shoe
With pages on the table, attention swings back to the announcement fans keep predicting is imminent.
At a glance
The next Bond film has a finished first draft, so the casting hunt is no longer the only thing moving.
