The Gentlemen Season 2 grows 48% in its second week
Guy Ritchie's crime drama hit No. 1 on Netflix in week two, and its first season climbed back up the chart too.
In brief
Guy Ritchie's crime drama hit No. 1 on Netflix in week two, and its first season climbed back up the chart too. The Gentlemen is growing in its second week instead of fading, which goes against the usual Netflix pattern of viewers dropping off in second seasons. Originally reported by Variety.
A 48% jump in week two

The Gentlemen Season 2 pulled in 9.9 million views from Sept. 7 to 15. That took it to No. 1 on Netflix's global English-language TV chart.
A solid but smaller start
Season 2 premiered Sept. 3 with 6.7 million views in three days and landed at No. 3. Season 1 opened far bigger, with 12.2 million views in its first three days in March 2024.
Season 1 is back too
Two and a half years after release, Season 1 climbed back to No. 3 with over 8 million views in the same week. Together, the two seasons drew close to 18 million views.
Critics say it hit its stride
Variety's Aramide Tinubu praised the new season and said the show raised the stakes this time around.
“Engaging, devastating and thoroughly entertaining”
Netflix's second season problem
Bloomberg reported that Netflix originals often lose viewers in their second season. Co-CEO Ted Sarandos said that's common and blamed how big Netflix launches its shows.
“Our Season 2 fall-off is actually slightly improved this year relative to last year”
Netflix is betting on more
Netflix renewed the show for a third season before Season 2 even came out. It also threw a big premiere and afterparty at London's historic Guildhall.
The short version
The Gentlemen is growing in its second week instead of fading, which goes against the usual Netflix pattern of viewers dropping off in second seasons.
