SMU's ACC Streak
SMU has been one of the ACC's teams since it joined the conference ahead of the 2024 season. The Mustangs have never lost a home game as a member of the ACC.
Virginia's Struggles
Multiple times this season, the Cavaliers offense has completely disappeared for quarters on end. That is concerning, especially given that the Mustangs have routinely scored 30-plus points (except for a surprisingly close game against Boston College).
Injuries Impact
Virginia is allowing more than three sacks per game (although many of those sacks are not the fault of the offensive line).Injuries have also ravaged Virginia's defensive backfield.
Virginia's Key Challenge
The keys for Virginia are to find some sustainable offense, and also force a few SMU turnovers.Interceptions and a few poor fumbles have been the biggest detriment to a very talented Mustangs offense.
The key point
Virginia needs to find offense and force turnovers to avoid ACC purgatory after losing to Syracuse.
