Boox goes smaller still

E-readers are shrinking while phones grow. Boox, known for the popular Palma, has announced the Picco, an even tinier model with a screen just under four inches.
Smaller than the competition
The Picco's screen is three point nine seven inches, making it about the size of a playing card. It's smaller than the Xteink X four Pro's four point three inches and considerably smaller than the upcoming Boox Palma three's six point one nine inches.
Price and availability
The Picco will cost one hundred dollars and is expected to ship in November. Preorders are opening today for the device.
Screen and storage specs

The Picco has a monochrome screen with a resolution of two hundred thirty five pixels per inch and an adjustable front light switching between warm and cool toned lighting. A microSD card slot supports up to two terabytes of flash memory storage, with a sixteen gigabyte card included.
Reading and productivity tools
The Picco has both a touchscreen and physical page turning buttons. It includes Pomodoro, Todo, and Countdown apps, letting users treat it as both an e-reader and productivity gadget. A magnetic ring lets you attach it to the back of a smartphone.
Boox's streamlined approach
Boox says the Picco will have a streamlined operating system focused on reading and digital utility tools. It's the first in Boox's Tiles lineup for accessing ebooks, and supports web and USB-C file transfers via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity.
The takeaway
Boox launched the Picco, a 3.97-inch e-reader priced at one hundred dollars, positioning itself as the smallest option in a growing market for compact reading devices.
