The alien speech Trump hasn't given

A rumor that the president is sitting on a finished UFO disclosure speech has taken over UFOlogy, and the reasons people believe it are real.

In brief

A rumor that the president is sitting on a finished UFO disclosure speech has taken over UFOlogy, and the reasons people believe it are real. Government engagement with UAP is genuinely at an 80-year high, but the promised presidential reveal has never once arrived, and the White House says none is planned. Originally…

From The Apprentice to aliens

In 2006, Trump was firing people on reality TV and Dr. Phil was daytime's tough-love therapist. Twenty years later one is president and the other is his informal UFO ambassador.

Dr. Phil got the files

He was handed unreleased government documents on unidentified anomalous phenomena, apparently to gauge how the public might handle what's inside.

“First they acknowledge it, then they confirm it's real, then they tell you where it's from”

The rumor that ate 2026

The rumor that ate 2026

For most of the year, UFOlogy has run on one claim: Trump has a finished speech confirming humanity isn't alone. X, r/UFO, and dozens of podcasts argue about it daily.

Why people believe it

This is arguably the biggest era for UFOs since Roswell and the radar blips over Washington in the 1940s and '50s. The government really is engaging with the topic now.

Stephen Miller owns the file

Marco Rubio confirmed that Miller, one of the most powerful people in the White House, has been handed the UAP portfolio.

A retired admiral's caution

Tim Gallaudet calls the new openness a total break from 80 years of executive-branch secrecy. He still doubts a president would ever say it out loud.

“they'd have to acknowledge that we're not in control, that we're not the highest level of intelligence on the planet”

The White House says no

A spokesperson told WIRED no such speech is planned. The line is that files keep getting released and the public can make up its own mind.

“No such speech is planned”

Eight years of slow admissions

A 2017 Times story exposed a secret Pentagon program. The Pentagon verified the Navy videos in 2020, a 2021 report conceded the phenomena were unexplained, and Congress held hearings through 2025.

One thing both parties share

The House task force on declassifying secrets and the House UAP Caucus both draw members from across the aisle. Almost nothing else in Washington does.

Lara Trump lit the fuse

In February she said on a podcast that she'd heard Trump had a speech ready touching on extraterrestrial life. Obama then called aliens real, and Trump accused him of leaking classified information.

The aliens.gov bait and switch

A mysterious loading page on aliens.gov sent the UFO community into a frenzy. The finished site was a Star Wars-themed ICE tip line. The aliens were undocumented people.

A leak with a script

Liberation Times reported a prepared speech saying some UFOs are non-human in origin. Founder Christopher Sharp says a shaken source described craft that were retrieved and reverse engineered.

“we're not alone, we have captured some of these or retrieved some of these things, they're of non-human origin”

The billionaire's one sentence

Robert Bigelow says he handed Trump a single line in the Oval Office and told him to deliver it casually while walking to Air Force One. No evidence, no press conference.

“A non-human, intelligent presence has been on Earth for a very long time”

Eighty years of almost

Historian Greg Eghigian notes presidents aren't privy to much of what sits in the military bureaucracy, and interest in UFOs spikes and fades on a long cycle. No president has ever delivered.

“Politicians overpromise”

At a glance

Government engagement with UAP is genuinely at an 80-year high, but the promised presidential reveal has never once arrived, and the White House says none is planned.
