Red Bull's pistachio surprise

Red Bull launches an unexpected winter flavour combining pistachio and berries, raising questions about how energy drinks fit into genuine wellbeing.

In brief

Red Bull launches an unexpected winter flavour combining pistachio and berries, raising questions about how energy drinks fit into genuine wellbeing. Energy drinks are a tool, not a wellness solution. What matters is understanding what you're consuming and how it fits around the real foundations of health: sleep…

Red Bull goes pistachio

Red Bull is launching Pistachio & Berries Winter Edition across the UK from 28 September 2026. The unexpected flavour combines pistachio with berries, caramel and creamy undertones.

Why pistachio now

Online interest in pistachio has risen 72% over the past 12 months and emerged as a fast-growing flavour in sweetened drinks. Red Bull is putting a trendy dessert flavour somewhere unexpected.

How it actually tastes

How it actually tastes

The berry element brings fruitiness while caramel and creamy undertones soften the pistachio flavour. It's different enough to make you work out what you're tasting, but still recognisably Red Bull.

Full-sugar or sugar-free

The Winter Edition comes in both full-sugar and sugar-free versions. Choice matters because what works for a demanding training session differs from what you want at a desk or with friends.

Energy isn't wellbeing

An energy drink isn't a replacement for sleep, nutritious food, hydration, recovery or fitness. Those are the foundations. The real question is how products like this fit around them.

“An energy drink isn't a replacement for sleep, nutritious food, hydration, recovery or fitness.”

What's in the can

A 250ml can contains 80mg of caffeine, taurine and B vitamins. Red Bull says that's roughly equivalent to a cup of coffee, though coffee caffeine varies depending on how it's prepared.

Caffeine guidelines matter

The UK Food Standards Agency advises healthy adults can safely consume up to 400mg of caffeine daily. Pregnant women should limit intake to 200mg. Timing matters too, as late caffeine can interfere with sleep.

Social energy counts too

Red Bull is positioning the Winter Edition around social occasions like games nights and watch parties. Connection and having fun with others are part of wellbeing, beyond what's inside the can.

Pricing and availability

The Winter Edition launches 28 September 2026 in 250ml (£1.80), 355ml (£2.20) and 473ml (£2.75) cans, with 4-packs of 250ml at £5.75. Both full-sugar and sugar-free versions available.

Wellbeing without absolutes

Wellbeing isn't about a perfect routine or avoiding sugar and caffeine entirely. It's about understanding your choices, knowing what works for your body and keeping the bigger picture in balance.

“Wellbeing is not about constructing an impossibly perfect routine or pretending we never consume sugar or caffeine.”

The one thing

Energy drinks are a tool, not a wellness solution. What matters is understanding what you're consuming and how it fits around the real foundations of health: sleep, food, hydration, recovery and fitness.
