Icebreaker is coming to Netflix

Hannah Grace's 2022 romance novel has sold nearly 5 million copies and spawned a Netflix series. The enemies-to-lovers story between figure skater Anastasia Allen and hockey captain Nate Hawkins is packed with explicit content.

The book is rated 4 out of 5 on spice

Readers rank Icebreaker highly for explicit content, with spicy scenes woven throughout the story. The novel doesn't hold back once the raunch begins, keeping readers in those moments for most of the book.

The spiciest moments are in chapters 9, 13, 16, 19, 29, 32, 36, 40, 41, and 47. Readers looking to jump straight to the explicit content can use these as a roadmap.

Book adaptations usually tone it down

Off Campus and Heated Rivalry both kept some spice in their TV versions but toned down the explicit details from the novels. Netflix adaptations often soften the raunchiest content for broader audiences.

Netflix rating still undetermined

The maturity rating for the Icebreaker adaptation hasn't been set yet since the project was recently announced. The level of spice in the TV version remains unclear.

Showrunner loves steamy romance

Amanda Lasher, the showrunner, has been a fan of steamy young adult fiction since seventh grade. She's excited to bring Hannah Grace's beloved novel to the screen with Netflix.

“I have been a fan of steamy YA since the seventh grade, reading Judy Blume stealthily hidden behind a textbook.”
