## A climb that never stops
First responders and neighbors across the country, Fargo included, are climbing 110 flights of stairs today to mark 25 years since the 9/11 attacks.
## Why 110 flights
The number matches the floors of each World Trade Center tower. Climbers go up all of them, the way firefighters did with gear on their backs.
## 343 names behind it
The climb honors the 343 firefighters killed that day, along with every other person lost at the towers, the Pentagon and on the planes.
## Personal for the chief
Mapleton Fire Chief Kayla Cross says the day still sits heavy with first responders, and that showing up is a way to stand in for the whole country.

> As first responders it impacted us greatly, it impacted a lot of Americans
## A symbol worth carrying
Cross frames her participation plainly: if climbing 110 flights means something to people watching, she will keep climbing.

> if I could just serve as a symbol for America, I'm happy to do it
## Fourteen hours at Family Wellness
The local climb runs from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Family Wellness. Organizers say anyone able to climb is welcome to join or come cheer.
## Key takeaway

Twenty-five years on, the tribute is physical: climb the same 110 floors the firefighters of 9/11 never came down from.
