## What Prime actually costs
Amazon Prime is $139 per year or $15 monthly (which costs $180 annually). Students pay $69 yearly, and eligible low-income customers pay just $7 monthly through Prime Access.
## Free shipping beyond two days
Prime members get free next-day shipping on millions of items, free same-day delivery in some areas, and free pickup at Amazon Lockers. Other Amazon-owned stores like Zappos and Woot offer free shipping too.
## Prime Music is included free
Prime members get free access to Amazon Music Prime with 100 million songs and podcasts, ad-free. You can upgrade to Amazon Music Unlimited for $12 monthly (normally $13) for on-demand access.
## Prime Video with live sports
Prime Video is included with membership and features originals like Fallout and The Expanse, plus NFL Thursday Night Football and select MMA fights. Ad-free viewing costs an extra $5 monthly.
## Prime Day deals twice yearly
Prime members get access to Amazon's members-only sale event twice a year. Prime Big Deal Days happens in October, and there's another Prime Day in June with deals on tested products.
## Exclusive member-only discounts
Outside of Prime Day, members get special discounts on portable chargers, household essentials, and new Amazon devices. Discounts vary and appear regularly throughout the year.
## Early access to Lightning Deals
Prime members can shop select Lightning Deals 30 minutes before other customers during Prime Day, Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and other special events.
## Consolidate deliveries with Amazon Day
Schedule all your deliveries to arrive on one day of the week instead of multiple days. You can still choose faster shipping when needed, and it reduces cardboard waste.
## No-Rush Shipping rewards
Choose free No-Rush Shipping at checkout to get either a digital credit for ebooks and games or an instant discount on your order. Rewards may expire after a certain time.
## Alexa Plus with AI features
Prime members get free access to Alexa Plus, Amazon's newest voice assistant powered by generative AI. It normally costs $20 monthly and lets you create bedtime stories and smart shopping lists.
## Free Grubhub Plus membership
Prime members get free access to Grubhub Plus, which includes free delivery on some orders and Prime-exclusive restaurant discounts throughout the year.
## Grocery delivery and Whole Foods deals
Amazon Fresh delivers groceries to your door in eligible areas. Whole Foods shoppers get 10 percent off storewide sales with the app, plus Prime-exclusive deals every Tuesday and Friday.
## Share benefits with Amazon Family
Share Prime benefits with one other adult and up to four child profiles in your household. You can no longer add new teen accounts, but existing teen accounts added before April 2025 can stay.
## Free Kindle books every month
Amazon First Reads gives you at least one free Kindle book monthly. Prime Reading adds access to over a thousand Kindle books, audiobooks, magazines, and comics via Comixology.
## Prime Gaming with free games
Prime members get monthly rewards through Prime Gaming, including free game downloads, in-game loot, free DLC, and a free Twitch subscription to support your favorite streamers.
## Ten dollars off game preorders
Prime members can get $10 off eligible video game preorders. Some games also offer free Release Day Delivery, so your game arrives on launch day.
## Unlimited photo storage in the cloud
Store unlimited full-resolution photos and 5 gigabytes of video for free. Print photos through Shutterfly with a 45 percent discount and free shipping on orders over $35.
## Discounted Amazon Kids Plus
Amazon Kids Plus costs $6 monthly for Prime members (normally $8) and provides age-appropriate shows, books, games, and parental controls on compatible devices.
## Save at the pump with Earnify
Link your Prime account to Earnify, a loyalty app owned by BP, to save at least 10 cents per gallon at over 7,500 participating gas stations nationwide.
## Prescription discounts and health perks
Prime Rx offers discounts on prescription medications at pharmacies nationwide. OneMedical provides same- and next-day virtual appointments for common health issues for $99 yearly.
## Key takeaway

Amazon Prime includes dozens of hidden benefits beyond shipping, from free music and video to gaming rewards and photo storage. Most members only use a fraction of what they're paying for.
