## A man dead before dawn
A 22-year-old man was fatally shot early Sunday in Fuller Park, on Chicago's South Side. Police put the time at around 4 a.m.
## The 4200 block of Wentworth
It happened in the 4200 block of South Wentworth Avenue, a stretch running alongside the Dan Ryan through one of the city's smallest neighborhoods.
## He was sitting in a car
The man was inside a vehicle when the shooting started. He was not on the street, not walking, not in a crowd.
## Two cars pulled alongside
According to police, two separate cars drove up next to him. That detail is what turns this from a random encounter into something planned.

> two cars pulled up alongside and several people in both vehicles fired shots at the man
## Several shooters, not one
People in both vehicles fired. Multiple gunmen in coordinated cars is a different kind of attack than a single shooter on foot.
## Hit in the chest and shoulder
The gunfire struck him twice, in the chest and the shoulder. Both wounds were to the upper body.

> The man, shot in his chest and shoulder, was pronounced dead at the scene.
## He died where he was hit
There was no ride to a trauma center, no time in surgery. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
## Nobody is in custody
Police say no one has been arrested. Every person who fired that morning is still out there.

> No one has been arrested, police said.
## The who and why are missing
The public account so far covers the where and the how. No name for the man who died, no motive, no description of the cars or the people in them.
## Key takeaway

A young man was killed in a coordinated, two-car ambush in Fuller Park, and nobody has been arrested.
