## It started on Lakestream Drive
Plano police say a man fatally shot his ex-girlfriend inside a home near Parker Road and Alma Drive around 10 p.m. Sunday, then drove off in a Dodge Charger.
## The family knew him
Relatives of the victim were at the house and identified the suspect to officers right away. That gave police a name and a car to hunt for overnight.
## A hit on the Charger
Monday morning, police got a hit on the vehicle. DPS troopers tried to pull the driver over on Interstate 35 in Denton County. He refused to stop.
## He fired at troopers
The suspect shot at DPS troopers and kept running north toward Sanger and Valley View. Valley View police got the call for backup around 10 a.m.

> The suspect fired at troopers and continued fleeing.
## Crash, then fire
The Charger crashed at speed and burst into flames, setting the highway median on fire. Traffic stopped in both directions as the grass burned.
## Dead, and still unnamed
The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. I-35 stayed closed for hours while crews cleared the wreck, and police have not released the names of the victim or the suspect.
## Key takeaway

A Sunday night domestic shooting in Plano ended roughly 12 hours later with the suspect dead in a fiery crash that closed I-35 in both directions.
