## No excuse needed
Tangent Design Group made a Safari-style Porsche 911 for one reason: they wanted to. No brief, no buyer, no deadline.

> You don't always need an excuse to do something cool.
## A 911 lifted for the city
The build takes Porsche's 911 and gives it the raised, rugged Safari treatment, normally reserved for desert rallies and gravel stages.
## Designed for Chicago streets
Chicago roads chew up normal cars. Tangent aimed this one at that exact problem: salt, slush, potholes and brutal winters.
## Strictly one of one
There is no production run and no second copy. The car exists as a single finished object from a single shop.

> The gorgeous one-of-a-kind off-roader isn't a commission for a client, either.
## Not a commission
No client ordered it, so no client shaped it. Every decision on the car came from the people building it.
## A labor of love
Tangent describes the project as exactly that. It is a shop showing what it can do when the only person to satisfy is itself.

> Instead, it's a pure labor of love.
## Key takeaway

The best builds often come from people who just wanted to make the thing, not from a client brief.
