## Deputies called to Malibu
Los Angeles sheriff's deputies went to Kamala Harris' Malibu home on a Friday night after an uninvited woman turned up at the $8 million property twice.
## She came back a second time
An Uber dropped the woman off. Security told her to leave, she returned, and after 10 p.m. they called the authorities. She was not arrested.
## Nobody was home
Harris spokesman Eduardo Negrón said security stopped the woman before she reached the house, and that neither Harris nor Doug Emhoff were there that night.

> security personnel stopped an individual who illegally entered Vice President Harris and Second Gentleman [Doug] Emhoff's property
## No Secret Service anymore
Biden extended Harris' detail a year past the usual six months for former vice presidents. Trump ended it a year ago, leaving private security and local deputies.
## Extra patrols on the street
Lt. Jason Duron of the Malibu/Lost Hills station said the department is adding patrols around the house the couple bought last January.

> We are stepping up patrols of the property to be safe.
## Why the stakes are real
The man who broke into Nancy Pelosi's San Francisco home in 2022 and attacked her husband with a hammer is serving life without parole.
## Key takeaway

Harris now relies on private security and local sheriff's deputies, and a stranger still got onto the property before anyone stopped her.
