## Every guitarist's nightmare
A string breaking mid-gig usually means a scramble offstage and dead air. Angine de Poitrine hit that moment at Le Poisson Rouge in New York on September 9.

> Mid-gig string breaks are the stuff of nightmares for guitarists.
## 2026's breakout weirdos
The microtonal duo have been the year's surprise act since February, built around a double-neck guitar now made for them by Godin.
## They had a spare, and skipped it
Godin built guitarist Khn two custom models, so swapping in the backup was easy. They chose not to. The broken one stayed in view.
## Restring in front of everyone
Khn's high E went, and the tech walked out in a head torch, calm and quick, working on the guitar while Khn laid squelchy riffs over Klek's drums.

> moving with a swift but calm efficiency
## Not one wrong note
Fiddly work on a double-neck could have killed the jam. It never wobbled, and no string was heard creeping up to pitch. The room roared when it was done.

> At no point is the jam interrupted by the sound of a string slowly rising to pitch.
## From sawed frets to Lifeson's praise
The band started by cutting frets into an S-type knockoff and grafting it to a bass. Now Rush's Alex Lifeson is among those praising the freak show.
## Key takeaway

A broken string only kills a set if you hide it. Played right, the repair becomes part of the show.
