## Adani breaks ground on massive Assam power plant
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma laid the foundation stone for Adani Power's 3,200 megawatt thermal power plant in Dhubri district. The 48,000 crore rupee project will be one of the largest single investments ever made in the state.
## Project will create 25,000 jobs total
The plant will generate up to 20,000 jobs during construction and around 5,000 permanent jobs once operational. It will also create opportunities for local contractors, suppliers and service providers.
## Ultra-supercritical technology with four units
The Chapar plant will comprise four 800 megawatt units using ultra-supercritical technology with high-efficiency systems and modern environmental safeguards. It will provide reliable and affordable power for households, businesses and industries.
## Commissioning begins December 2030
The plant is part of a 63,000 crore rupee power investment in Assam, with phased commissioning starting in December 2030. Across all sectors, investments in the state will exceed 80,000 crore rupees over the next three to four years.
## Assam emerging as energy hub
Chief Minister Sarma said the project is a proud outcome of the Advantage Assam Investor Summit 2.0 and will benefit the state through increased economic activity and tax revenues. Assam is fast emerging as the region's energy hub with several mega projects in the pipeline.
