## Dhamra Port Shifts to Renewable Power
Dhamra Port in Odisha has shifted its entire electricity consumption to renewable power, becoming India’s first large-scale private multi-cargo port to operate fully on renewable electricity.
## Renewable Power Consumption
The port now meets more than 90 lakh units of monthly electricity demand from renewable sources, with annual renewable consumption exceeding 108 gigawatt-hours.
## Net-Zero Transition
The transition took effect in August 2026 as part of APSEZ’s long-term Net-Zero strategy to reduce emissions linked to purchased electricity.
## Renewable Sources Breakdown
Around 25-30% of renewable electricity comes from APSEZ’s captive hybrid power plant at Khavda in Gujarat, with another 10-15% sourced through third-party access.
## Green Consumer Arrangement
The remaining renewable electricity requirement is met through a Green Consumer arrangement with Odisha’s distribution utility.
## Round-the-Clock Operations
Renewable electricity now powers the port’s round-the-clock operations, including cargo handling, storage, rail-linked activities and critical infrastructure.
## Key takeaway

Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone's Dhamra Port in Odisha became India's first large private multi-cargo port to run fully on renewable electricity, reducing emissions and improving environmental performance.
