## Alcantara skips final start
Marlins manager Clayton McCullough confirmed Sandy Alcantara won't make his final start Saturday.

> Just think about the last two and a half years with this guy
## Why skip the start?
McCullough cited Alcantara's recent Tommy John surgery and 2026 World Baseball Classic workload.

> It takes a lot out of someone
## Alcantara's comeback
Alcantara missed 2024 due to Tommy John surgery and struggled to regain form until late 2025.

> He has the TJ surgery, the amount of rehab
## Relief pitch plan
Alcantara may pitch in relief this weekend, avoiding a piggyback situation with multiple innings.

> We asked him to go on regular rest later in the summer
## Manager's reasoning
McCullough said Alcantara needs rest to prepare for a 2027 workload that includes multiple starts.

> He's healthy. There's nothing wrong with Sandy
## Key takeaway

Alcantara will pitch in relief this weekend after a grueling 2024-2026 comeback cycle.
