## Earth, Wind & Fire plays for Alonso
Camden Yards played "September" each time Pete Alonso stepped to the plate on Monday night, celebrating his son Teddy's first birthday.

> That was for him. That's his birthday song.
## Alonso hits 39th and 40th homers
Alonso clubbed two homers to lift the Orioles to a 4-3 comeback win over the Blue Jays. His second blast was a go-ahead two-run shot with two outs in the eighth inning.

> It's obviously special. Hopefully, we can bookmark this game.
## First solo shot cuts early deficit
Alonso's first homer was an opposite-field solo shot to right field in the first inning, helping the Orioles overcome a 3-0 deficit.
## Alonso reaches 40 homers in AL
In his first National League season, Alonso hit 53 homers. He's now the only player ever to hit 40+ homers in his first season in each league.
## 108 RBIs lead the American League
Alonso's three RBIs on Monday boosted his AL-leading total to 108. No other AL player has more than 99.
## Orioles still fighting for playoffs
Baltimore (76-81) is 4.5 games back of the White Sox for the third AL Wild Card spot with five games remaining in the regular season.

> I really love playing the game, and for me, I just want to be all I can be.
## Alonso signed five-year deal last winter
Since signing a five-year, $155 million contract with the Orioles last December, Alonso has delivered as advertised during his first season in Baltimore.
## Consistency defines Alonso's career
Alonso has hit at least 34 homers in every season except 2020, when he had 16 in the pandemic-shortened campaign. This is his fourth 40-homer season.

> Hitting 40 home runs and having over 100 RBIs in this league is really impressive.
## Key takeaway

Alonso has become the only player ever to hit 40+ homers in his first season in both the National and American leagues.
