## Amazon announces new flagship tablet
Amazon unveiled the Alexa Tablet 12 Pro on October eighth, twenty twenty-six, replacing the Fire HD 10 at the top of its tablet lineup. The Fire Max 11 was quietly discontinued in the US.
## Fire HD 10 was budget tablet with limits
The Fire HD 10 base model had thirty two gigabytes of storage, four gigabytes of RAM and a MediaTek Helios chip, giving it roughly the performance of a cheap Chromebook. It cost one hundred fifty five dollars.
## Alexa Tablet 12 Pro gets major hardware upgrade
The Alexa Tablet 12 Pro features an aluminum build, a four nanometer eight core MediaTek Dimensity 8400 CPU and up to sixteen gigabytes of RAM. Both display options measure twelve inches with a pixel density of two hundred eighty pixels per inch.
## Nanomatte display designed for reading
Amazon designed the nanomatte display in partnership with Corning to create a texture that lines up with the pixel grid. This should reduce screen glare and make it easier to read text in bright conditions.
## Tablet switches to Android with Google Play
The Alexa Tablet 12 Pro runs Android as its underlying software and includes the Google Play Store. Amazon ditched its Fire OS software, moving to a more Alexa focused home screen experience.
## New Kindle mode preserves reading experience
All new Alexa tablets announced today offer a dedicated Kindle mode designed to preserve the sanctuary of reading, according to Amazon's Panos Panay. The mode silences notifications, reduces blue light and extends battery life.

## Kindle mode offers three display settings
While reading in the Kindle app, users can pick from three display settings: warm, paper like or grayscale. The nanomatte display enhances the reading experience by reducing glare and improving text visibility.
## Pricing starts at five hundred dollars
The Alexa Tablet 12 Pro starts at five hundred dollars for the standard display with one hundred twenty eight gigabytes of storage and eight gigabytes of RAM. The nanomatte version costs five hundred fifty dollars. A Pro Keyboard case costs one hundred fifty dollars and a Tablet Pro Pen stylus costs ninety dollars.
## Key takeaway

Amazon announced the Alexa Tablet 12 Pro on October eighth, twenty twenty-six, replacing the Fire HD 10 as its top tablet with upgraded hardware, a paper-like display option and new Kindle reading features.
