## Google unlocks the switch
Android users can now move saved passwords between password managers far more easily, and transfer passkeys across managers for the first time.
## It starts in your app
Open the password manager you want to move to, tap the new import option, and Android scans your device for other managers you can pull from.
## Tap, verify, done
Hit Continue and Android sends you to your old manager to review and approve the transfer. Verify your identity and the migration finishes on its own.
## No more CSV exports
The old route meant dumping every login into a plain file and importing it by hand, a step that creates security problems of its own.

> there is no need to manually import and export your logins via a CSV file
## Built on an open standard
It runs on Credential Exchange Format, a FIDO Alliance spec built for moving logins between managers. Google Password Manager, 1Password, Bitwarden and Dashlane support it today.
## Old phones invited
Anything running Android 8, released in 2017, or newer works. That matters as password managers go mainstream: 34% of Americans used one in 2023, and 63% of those chose a free tool.
## Key takeaway

If you have been putting off leaving your password manager, Android now moves your logins and passkeys for you, no CSV required.
