## Early Duo reviews criticized app gap
The iPhone Duo faced criticism at launch for lacking Duo-optimized apps. Apple is now addressing this concern with a major software push.
## Over 100,000 apps now available
Apple announced Friday that over 100,000 apps built for the Duo are live on the App Store, with thousands more being added every day.
## Major apps join the Duo ecosystem
Microsoft Word, Outlook, Zoom, NBA and NHL sports apps, Etsy, LTK, Goodnotes, and Halide Mark III camera app are among new Duo-ready releases.
## Non-optimized apps create problems
Apps not optimized for Duo show a black bar on screen, wasting space and sometimes hiding important functions under overflow menus.
## Apple trained over 2,000 developers
More than 2,000 app developers attended over 50 in-person workshops across 19 cities worldwide to optimize their apps for the Duo.
## Duo demand exceeds expectations
The iPhone Duo, starting at $1,999 for the 256GB model, sold out within hours. Ship times have shifted into next year, with Apple calling delays hard to predict.
## Apple celebrates developer momentum
Susan Prescott, Apple's vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations, said the enthusiasm has been incredible and the pace of updates will accelerate.

> It's been wonderful to see how quickly developers have embraced iPhone Duo, and we're grateful for their creativity and innovation.
## Dozens more apps coming soon
Spotify, CBS, Tubi, BBC iPlayer, Yahoo Fantasy Sports, Facebook Messenger, ChatGPT, Excel, PowerPoint, and many others are optimizing for Duo.
## Key takeaway

Apple announced over 100,000 Duo-optimized apps are now available on the App Store, with thousands more added daily, addressing launch criticism about software gaps.
