## Six years without an update
Apple has not released a proper refresh of its HomePod mini smart speaker in around six years. The company is planning an updated model this fall, likely to coincide with the official launch of the Siri AI assistant.
## New colors found in Apple's code
MacRumors discovered information on the device and clear pictures while digging through Apple's own code. The HomePod mini two will reportedly come in green, pink, light blue, white and black.
## Design stays largely the same
The overall design of the HomePod mini two looks relatively unchanged from the original. The original speaker is available in yellow, orange, blue, white and midnight black.
## Launch timing confirmed by code
Apple's code indicates a release in the near future. This tracks with reports that both an upgraded HomePod mini and a new Apple TV streaming box would launch later this year.
## Original model launched in October twenty twenty
The original HomePod mini came out in October twenty twenty and cost ninety nine dollars, before Apple raised the price to one hundred twenty nine dollars. There has not been an actual hardware refresh since that time.
## Smart home hub with display in development
Apple is reportedly working on a smart home hub completely designed around Siri AI. It will reportedly look sort of like a sliced-in-half HomePod mini, with a small display.
## Key takeaway

Apple is releasing a HomePod mini 2 this fall in green, pink, light blue, white and black, marking the first hardware refresh since October twenty twenty.
