## Disaster declared in Bangkok
A flood emergency has been declared across Bangkok after more than 300mm of rain fell since Thursday, leaving roads in the Thai capital submerged.
## All 50 districts now emergency zones
All fifty of Bangkok's districts were declared emergency zones as the city's drainage system became overwhelmed by the extreme weather.
## Water levels remain dangerously high
On Sunday, Bangkok's Metropolitan Authority said rains have subsided but canal water levels remain high. The city's governor warned flooding is not yet over.
## Residents describe waist-high water
Somkid Pheuk-ngam, a sixty-seven-year-old living near a canal north of central Bangkok, told AFP the water keeps coming in and is now at waist level.

> The water keeps coming in. It's hard to go out now. It's like at my waist level now.
## Worse than 2011 flooding, residents say
Pheuk-ngam said water levels appeared worse than in two thousand eleven, when Bangkok was hit by nationwide flooding that killed hundreds across Thailand over three months.
## More rain forecast for the week
The Thai Meteorological Service has forecast more heavy rain through the week, though the low pressure system is expected to move towards central Thailand.
## Key takeaway

Bangkok declared a flood emergency after more than 300mm of rain in three days submerged roads across all 50 districts, with water levels still high and more rain forecast.
