## Julie Chen is back
Big Brother season 28 launched Thursday, July 9, with Julie Chen Moonves hosting a fresh batch of houseguests fighting for a $750,000 prize pot.
## Almost all rookies
Despite teases that old-school players would return, the cast is stacked with newbies. Season 26's Angela Murray is the only returning Big Brother player.
## Familiar faces anyway
The house still got its crossover stars: a RuPaul's Drag Race queen plus Survivor alums Rick Devens and Dee Valladares, who arrive already knowing how to play a social game.
## One last-minute swap
Financial analyst Yash Patel was subbed in for another player right before the season, reportedly after a contract problem knocked the original casting out.

## The seven still playing
Barrett Pfeiffer, Dee Valladares, Drew Campbell, Melody Morris, Rick Devens, Taylor Brown and Yash Patel. Day jobs range from jumbotron engineer to elementary school counselor.
## Ten evictions so far
Bartender Ashley Trail went first on Day 10. Angela Murray lasted longest of the evicted, leaving on Day 66 after a rocket scientist, an MMA fighter and a drag queen all went before her.
## Key takeaway

BB28 is a rookie season with a reality-TV twist: seven players remain, and only Angela Murray had played Big Brother before.
