## What is it?
The Boss RC-600 Loop Station is the company's most advanced floor-based looper pedal.
## History
Looping started with Brian Eno and Robert Fripp's analog tape reels, then DigiTech's PDS series in the 1980s, and Boss's RC-20 in 2001.
## Specs
Price: $659 | £499 | €496. Made in Malaysia. 6 stereo tracks, 200 rhythm types, 49 input effects.
## Build quality
The RC-600 has a durable metal chassis, but small footswitches are fiddly to hit accurately.
## Usability
Color-coded controls and visual loop indicators help users navigate the device intuitively.
## Sounds
The RC-600 delivers crystal-clear layered playback with minimal latency and responsive performance.
## Features
The RC-600 includes quantization for timing, 13 hours of recording time, and extensive connectivity options.
## Pros
Six stereo tracks offer room for elaborate arrangements. Excellent audio clarity with multiple layers. Durable metal chassis for gigging.
## Cons
Small footswitches are fiddly to hit accurately. Onboard effects could use more recognizable Boss stompbox recreations.
## Auto-off issue
The RC-600's auto-off function can shut down after inactivity, risking loss of work.
## Verdict
The RC-600 is a compelling choice for guitarists who want creative depth but may need footswitch toppers for accuracy.
## Key takeaway

The Boss RC-600 is a powerful looping station with six tracks, extensive connectivity, and flexible recording for guitarists who need creative depth.
