## Police add patrols at the lake
Dallas Police told FOX 4 they have increased patrols around White Rock Lake after a run of vehicle break-ins left residents uneasy.
## 58 reports this year
Police logged 58 burglaries of a motor vehicle in the White Rock Lake area in 2026, up from 18 through September 14 of 2025 and 13 in 2024. The count includes some reports outside the lake itself.
## Bikes, UTVs and signs
Officers are focusing bike and UTV patrols on hot spots including the dog park at 8000 Mockingbird Lane and 300 E. Lawther. Parks and Rec put up signs pushing the "Lock, Take & Hide" message.
## Three weeks in a row
Emma Jamail runs a Wednesday workout class at the lake. Her group has had things taken from their cars three weeks straight, including her wallet and work badge.
## Even dog treats
Lisa DeLano secured her belongings before a walk and still came back to a broken-into car. The thief took one thing: a bag of dog treats.

> I didn't think that anyone would see that through the window and think, 'Oh, that's worth something.'
## The real cost is the worry
DeLano says she now spends her lake time watching her car and sizing up people on the trail. Police say crime levels overall remain in line with the past two years.

> I spend time being suspicious of other people on the trail and trying to clock people now. And that's not why you go to the lake.
## Key takeaway

Lock it, take your keys, hide your bag. Thieves at White Rock are grabbing whatever they can see, even a bag of dog treats.
