## The hottest ticket at TIFF
Variety and Chanel held their annual Women in Film dinner on Friday night in Toronto, the one invitation everyone at the festival wanted.

## Who the room was for
The guest list gathered prominent women and nonbinary filmmakers, a deliberate narrowing that made the evening feel like a working industry night rather than a party.
## Chanel co-hosted
The fashion house shared hosting duties with Variety co-presidents Ramin Setoodeh, also co-editor-in-chief, and Dea Lawrence.

## Michelle Yeoh walks in
The Oscar winner arrived at the cocktail hour and was met with hugs from Emmy winners Sarah Paulson and Colman Domingo.
## Arquette pulls her in
Patricia Arquette breezed into the bar and grabbed her fellow Oscar winner for a quick photo, the kind of moment the night was built to produce.

## Why this dinner matters
Awards-season relationships get made in bars like this one. An annual event with this guest list turns a festival stop into real industry leverage.
## Key takeaway

The Women in Film dinner works because it puts the industry's most powerful women in one room, on their own terms.
