## One playbook no longer fits
At an investor conference in Boston, CEO Nick Fink said brands at different stages need different strategies. Scaling through distribution built the company, but it is not enough anymore.
## Corona needs relevance, not reach
Mature brands like Corona now get a granular approach built on relevance, saliency and targeted consumer activation instead of broad awareness pushes.
## Still a brand scaler
Modelo, Pacifico and Victoria remain the growth engines. Fink said the company also has to build muscle for sustaining large brands and launching genuinely new products.

> We'll continue to be a brand scaler
## Compete by the occasion
Drinkers now move across beverage categories, so Constellation is picking the occasions it wants to win and then choosing which brand fits each one.
## Pacifico goes adventuring
Pacifico is being aimed at active, adventure and sports moments, including tie-ins with the World Cup surfing championship in California. No one-size-fits-all Mexican beer marketing.
## World Cup win, off-premise miss
Constellation was the tournament's top share gainer by nearly a full point, with strong bars and restaurants results. Off-premise and August Circana data were, in Fink's word, lackluster.

## A stretched consumer
Higher gas and diesel prices plus macro and geopolitical pressure are weighing on demand. Fink called the headwinds cyclical, but said it will take time to know.
## Hispanic demand splits by state
California and New York show little gap between Hispanic and general-market shoppers. Florida and Texas have taken the harder hit.
## Repricing the light beers
Corona Premier and Modelo Oro moved to a price the company thinks fits light beer, and both have grown since. Barrilito is being tested in Texas, Fresno and other states with less cannibalization than feared.
## Corona stopped bleeding share
Extra spending, activation, new pack sizes and on-premise work moved Corona Extra from losing share to roughly holding it, with New York and Miami leading.

> There's nothing in Corona that is broken
## A 20-point distribution gap
Modelo trails domestic beer brands by about 20 points of national distribution, and awareness stays low toward the center of the country despite its number-one dollar share.
## From building breweries to squeezing them
After roughly $1 billion a year on capacity at Nava, Obregon and Veracruz, CFO Garth Hankinson said the focus shifted to efficiency, yielding over $600 million in savings.
## Guidance held, margins pinched
April's full-year outlook stands, but second-half margins face seasonality, inflation, trucking costs and heavier marketing. Wine and spirits grew 8% and the $4 billion buyback has room left.
## Key takeaway

Constellation is done running one playbook for every beer: mature brands get cultural relevance work, young brands get distribution, and savings fund both.
