## Barapullah Phase 3 opens September 29
Delhi's long-awaited Barapullah Phase 3 corridor will be inaugurated on September 29. Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta are expected to attend.
## Connects Mayur Vihar to AIIMS
The Phase 3 corridor improves connectivity between East and South Delhi by providing signal-free movement between Mayur Vihar Phase 1 and AIIMS.
## 9-kilometer total stretch
Once operational, the new flyover will connect with the existing Barapullah flyover at Sarai Kale Khan, taking the total stretch to around 9 kilometers.
## India's first flyover cycle track
For the first time in India, a flyover corridor has been designed with a dedicated cycle track, promoting greener and more sustainable mobility for Delhi residents.

## Years of delays and cost overruns
The project received approval in 2014 with construction beginning in 2015. Originally targeted for 2017 completion, delays pushed the timeline back and increased costs to around 1,635 crore rupees.
## Construction nears completion
Both ramps of the elevated corridor have been completed, with one connecting from Mayur Vihar and the other from Sarai Kale Khan. The extra-dosed bridge across the Yamuna is also finished.
## Key takeaway

The long-delayed Barapullah Phase 3 project finally opens September 29, connecting Mayur Vihar to AIIMS with a dedicated cycle track and signal-free movement.
