## Georgia's defense dominates early
The Bulldogs' starting defense has been perfect through two games, allowing zero points in about three combined quarters while rotating in younger players.
## Jones finally claims his starting role
Junior cornerback Demello Jones has earned a full-time starting position alongside Ellis Robinson IV, forming one of college football's projected best cornerback duos.
## First career interception against Western Kentucky
Jones logged his first career interception against Western Kentucky and nearly returned it for a touchdown, diving toward the end zone before being stopped just short.

> It was just a good play call from coach Schu (Glenn Schumann), The rest of it was God
## The path to starting cornerback
Jones spent last season rotating at cornerback before he and Robinson IV passed Daniel Harris on the depth chart, establishing himself as one of the defense's most underrated players.
## From multi-position star to focused defender
At Swainsboro High School, Jones played multiple positions and led his team to a state title game. Adjusting to playing one position for Georgia required trust in his coaches.

> First, it was tough having one main position… I just stayed down and trusted coach Donte (Williams)
## Athletic and physical presence
Jones is one of Georgia's most athletic defensive backs and a hard hitter who brings physicality to the secondary, though still developing compared to teammates like Kyron Jones.
## Still room to grow for SEC play
Both Jones and Robinson IV are in their third years but relatively inexperienced in real game situations. Jones knows the defense must improve before facing SEC competition.

> We still have a long way to go and have to get even better for the SEC
## Arkansas test comes this Saturday
Georgia's cornerback duo faces its first SEC challenge this Saturday against Arkansas and receiver KJ Jackson, a major step up in competition.
## Key takeaway

Demello Jones earned his starting cornerback spot through patience and versatility, and his first career interception signals he's ready for bigger responsibilities in SEC play.
