## Samsung backs Dutch chip startup
Samsung has joined investors backing Euclyd, a Netherlands-based chip designer aiming to challenge Nvidia's dominance in artificial intelligence hardware.
## Euclyd closes two hundred thirty-one million dollar round
Euclyd raised two hundred thirty-one million euros in its Series A round, co-led by Somerset Capital Partners, the Scaleup Europe Fund, and Innovation Industries, alongside Samsung.
## Two business lines for the startup
Euclyd plans to sell physical hardware and rack systems directly to enterprises for on-site AI inference, and to license intellectual property to firms building their own chips using Euclyd's designs.
## Different architecture from Nvidia
Founded in twenty twenty-four, Euclyd is developing a chip system built around a different architecture than conventional graphics processors, covering both the processor and memory layers.
## Samsung offers more than money
Euclyd's Chief Executive Bernardo Kastrup said Samsung can help beyond capital. Samsung is one of the biggest memory manufacturers in the world, knows engineering and systems, understands supply chains, and has a huge network.

> Samsung can help us in more ways than money. They are one of the biggest memory manufacturers in the world.
## Hardware delayed until twenty twenty-eight
Euclyd will not deliver its first commercial hardware until twenty twenty-eight, though the company plans to serve thousands of enterprise customers by twenty thirty.
## Unproven systems face uncertain future
Euclyd's systems remain unproven at any meaningful commercial scale, leaving real-world performance an open question. Whether a small Dutch startup with no shipped product can meaningfully dent Nvidia's position remains genuinely uncertain.
## Key takeaway

Euclyd, a Dutch chipmaker backed by Samsung and others, raised $231 million to build AI chips with a different architecture than Nvidia's, though it won't deliver hardware until 2028.
