## Father sentenced in hotel window death
Joshua Foster, thirty-seven, from Essex, was fined three thousand euros for causing his two-year-old son's death at a Cyprus resort on July twelve.
## The moment on the windowsill
Foster placed his son on a fourth-floor windowsill at the King Evelthon Beach Hotel and Resort to show him a waterpark view. The boy fell nearly forty feet.
## What Foster thought happened
Foster believed the window was closed when he placed his son on the sill. He told police the boy fell before he had a chance to grab him.
## The judge's finding
District Judge Froso Christodoulidou said the window carried no markings alerting Foster that one section was open. She called it a momentary error with fatal consequences.

> It was a momentary error which created a dangerous situation with fatal consequences.
## Foster's statement after sentencing
Foster told reporters he was looking forward to going home to be with his wife and daughter. His family said the consequences of the tragedy will never end.

> Our son was deeply loved and will be forever missed.
## Lawyer questions the prosecution
Foster's lawyer Alexandros Alexandrou said the case should have never gone to court. He said Foster was held in custody for eight days and lost the chance to grieve with his family.
